Buildings
CAUP occupies three buildings (A, B, and C) with a combined floor area of over 20,000 square meters. Building A, or Wenyuan Building, is also nicknamed the ‘Chinese Bauhaus Building’ and has been listed in the Shanghai Excellent Historical Building Preservation Index. In 2007 it was renovated with new ecological protection technology.
Library
With an area of nearly 1000 square meters, the library has a collection of over 150,000 books and 200 journals. Also, more than 3,000 master and doctoral students’ theses’ are compiled.
Laboratories
The facilities at CAUP include: the Lab of Modern Techniques in Urban Planning and Design, Lab of Architectural Technique, Lab of Digital Planning and Design for undergraduate students, and a Model Workshop. Equipped with advanced hardware and software for virtual design, the Lab of Modern Techniques in Urban Planning and Design is one of the key research centers at CAUP and has been used for much of the virtual design space for the Expo 2010. The Lab of Modern Techniques in Urban Planning and Design also has a professional lighting studio; the first in China.
